Interactive audio ads is now available both on Amazon Music ad-supported tier and Amazon Publisher Direct on Alexa in the US

Announced at unBoxed 2023

What launched?

Interactive audio ads invite leaned-in listeners to engage within an ad using their voice. Customers can request more info via email or push notification (“Alexa, send more info”), set reminders (“Alexa, remind me”), or even add items to their shopping cart (“Alexa, add to cart”), without ever leaving the streaming audio content they were enjoying — the experience is seamless. For the first-time ever, advertisers in the US can deliver their interactive audio ads across the Amazon Music ad-supported tier and Amazon Publisher Direct on Alexa, allowing them to reach and inspire more consumers in the home.

Why is it important?

With interactive audio ads, we are re-imagining what audio ads can do for listeners and advertisers alike. We are turning standard audio ad creatives into engaging opportunities, integrating Alexa’s technology to delight our listeners with the simplicity of taking the next step on an ad simply by asking Alexa. So if customers hear an ad about a product sold on Amazon and want to consider purchase, they can just ask Alexa to add it to their cart. Or, if they hear an ad about an upcoming release, they can ask Alexa to send more information to their phone or email, or set a reminder on when it will become available. And they can do so without needing to grab their phone or interrupt their audio stream. In addition to being available on the Amazon Music ad-supported tier, interactive audio ads are now available through Amazon Publisher Direct on Alexa, with additional providers coming later this year. With this expansion, advertisers can reach more customers in the home and inspire them to take action with brand messaging they find relevant. Advertisers can start their interactive audio ads campaign through the self-service (beta) and managed-service Amazon DSP.
