Creative Guidelines

Intro Video

A large-format unit, positioned at the top of IMDb site content. This is a large video that displays at the top of the page, fades out on the edges, and flows under IMDb site content. It autoplays without sound.

  • Placement: Top of page
  • Dimensions: 1920x1000
  • Length: up to 6 seconds

Safe Zone (highlighted in red)

Safe Zone (highlighted in red)

✔ Do:

  • Keep all messaging, title treatments, and additional logos in the upper half of the video, to ensure no information gets cut off behind IMDb content

✘ Do not:

  • Include a close button in the video file - the close button should be an editable asset in the PSD file
  • Include messaging, logos, legal, or bugs in the bottom half of the video, as they will get cut off by the fade and/or IMDb content

Top Ad (Expanded)

A 970x570 custom unit that lives within the top area. This unit includes the main trailer video, title treatment or logo, date messaging, character art, and the main CTA.

  • Placement: Top of page
  • Dimensions: 970x570

Safe Zone (highlighted in red)

✔ Do:

  • Ensure all important elements (character faces, logo, messaging, trailer video) fit within the 970x570 safe area. Anything outside of this area will be cropped on smaller browsers

✘ Do not:

  • Include a ‘close’ button in the video
  • Place character faces, messaging, logo, or legal text outside of the 970x570 area

Top Ad (Collapsed)

When a user collapses the video wall, the top ad shrinks in height to 250px. Any characters, logos, or other messaging can be rearranged to better fit the space. There is no video element in the collapsed state.

  • Placement: Top of page
  • Dimensions: 970x250

Static Background

This is an image that will live behind the ad and site content on IMDb. It should be static and should serve to enhance the billboard, not detract from it. No character faces, logos, messaging, or legal should be anywhere in the background.

By default, the background does not scroll down the page with the user, but fades to a solid color. If a fixed background is desired, please request that functionality in the creative brief.

  • Placement: Behind Video Wall and IMDb site content, visible surrounding content
  • Dimensions: 1920x1080

Static background safe zone

✔ Do:

  • Provide relevant pattern, texture, or colored assets
  • Keep in mind that while the dimensions of the full image are 1920x1080, some elements may get cut off on smaller browsers

✘ Do not:

  • Include messaging or character faces in the background anywhere
  • Include CTAs in the background (they will not be clickable)

Custom IMDb Logo Morph

A custom IMDb logo morph is the best way to add that little bit of extra flare to your name page by altering the IMDb logo in the style of your title.

At IMDb, we are committed to protecting our brand identity and ensuring that our entertainment fans receive a consistent and high-quality experience when interacting with our advertising products and services. As part of this commitment, we enforce strict limitations on the use of our logos and trademarks by third-party advertisers and partners. At the same time, we see value in our ability to surprise and delight our audience by (in some approved cases) customizing IMDb trademark logo to fit a movie or TV show’s IP style. As of 01 Mar 2023, approved IMDb logo customization will live as a logo “morph”. Upon initial load and on hover, the logo will morph to the custom logo for 8-10 sec, and then morph back to the standard logo. Custom logo morphs for Video Walls will require approval on a case-by-case basis. We encourage all interested advertising parties to review our logo and trademark usage guidelines and to seek our permission before using any of our logos or trademarks in any capacity.
