Amazon MGM Studios earns 8 Golden Globe nominations, led by Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Challengers, and Nickel Boys

Amazon MGM Studios has received eight Golden Globe nominations, with recognition in major film and television categories, led by Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Challengers, and Nickel Boys. Mr. & Mrs. Smith is nominated for Best Television Series - Drama, with nominations for stars Maya Erskine and Donald Glover for Best Performance by an Actress and by an Actor, respectively, in a Television Series - Drama. Challengers, the tangled tennis romance starring Zendaya, Mike Faist, and Josh O’Connor is nominated for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy. Zendaya also received a nod for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross were nominated for Best Original Score - Motion Picture, and for Best Original Song - Motion Picture for “Compress/Repress,” alongside Luca Guadagnino, for Challengers. Nickel Boys, the RaMell Ross-directed adaptation of Colson Whitehead’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, is nominated for Best Motion Picture - Drama.

Prime Video is a home for acclaimed programming

The Golden Globe nominations continue a banner year for Amazon MGM studios. In September, Amazon MGM Studios won seven Primetime Emmy Awards, including two each for Prime Video’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Fallout. In March, American Fiction, the social satire from director Cord Jefferson and starring Jeffrey Wright, won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. The film, based on the 2001 novel Erasure by Percival Everett, was nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Wright and Sterling K. Brown were nominated for acting categories in lead and supporting roles, respectively. The film also received a nomination for Best Original Score.

This year also marks the first in which brands can reach millions of Prime Video viewers with Streaming TV ads in shows and movies. At its first-ever upfront presentation in May, Amazon highlighted the scale of its premium content offerings anchored by Prime Video, which has an average monthly ad-supported reach of more than 200 million global customers.
