FAQs:

What are advertising promotions offered by Amazon Ads?

Amazon Ads helps advertisers drive sustained growth by offering ad credits to eligible advertisers who complete specific actions within designated timeframes.

How do advertising promotions work?

Advertising promotions on Amazon Ads typically follow this process:

  • Notification: Eligible advertisers receive a communication with the promotional offer and its terms and conditions.
  • Qualifying actions: Advertisers must complete specific actions within a given timeframe to qualify for the ad credits.
  • Credit application: Once an advertiser completes the qualifying actions, no further action is required. If qualified, Amazon applies the ad credits to the advertiser’s account within 14 days.
  • Usage: Advertisers can then use these ad credits for their advertising campaigns before they expire as per the terms of the promotion.
What information is typically included in the promotion terms and conditions?

The promotion terms and conditions include information such as:

  • Ad product eligibility: If the promotion is specific to Sponsored Brands, display ads, Sponsored Products, or streaming TV
  • Promotional period: During this time period you must perform the qualifying action to qualify for the ad credits.
  • Offer amount: The amount of ad credits offered.
  • Qualifying action: Description of the action or actions you need to take to qualify for the ad credits.
  • Award date: The date you will receive your ad credits by.
  • Expiration date: When the awarded ad credits will expire.
Will I be charged for any clicks received before/after my ad credits are available?

You’ll be charged for any clicks received before the ad credits are applied and for all advertising that exceeds the ad credits amount. You’re responsible for monitoring ad credits usage as you won’t be notified once the ad credits amount has been exhausted.

How do I check the start and end dates of my promotion?

Check your marketing communication for the promotion start and end dates, or look for the "Promotional period" in the Terms and Conditions section. Remember, this period indicates when you must complete the qualifying actions, not when you’ll receive credits.

Which ad types are eligible for promotions?

Promotion eligibility varies and may apply to sponsored ads. Always review your promotion’s terms and conditions carefully for specific ad type requirements.

What do I need to do to apply my ad credits?

Once you complete the qualifying action, Amazon will automatically apply the ad credits to your Amazon Ads account. They will be applied holistically to your billing statement at the end of a billing period. It can take up to 14 days to receive your ad credits after completing the qualifying action.

When will my credit expire?

After ad credits are applied to your account, you can view both the Award Date and Expiration Date in the Promotions Credits page in the Ads console.

How can I check my ad credits?

You can view your ad credits in two ways:

  • Through email notifications when credits are added to your account.
  • In the Ads console by going to Administration > Billing > Promotion credits.

The Summary to date section displays your active credits available for use and the promotions details table displays information about your promotion status, ad credits amount, and timeline.

  • Redeemed amount: The portion of your ad credits that has been used to cover advertising costs and applied to an invoice.
  • Remaining amount: The portion of your ad credits that is still available for future advertising costs.
  • Total promotion amount: Amount awarded in the currency of the marketplace where the ads were created.
  • Start date: Date when the ad credits became active.
  • Status:
    • Active: Currently available for use and has remaining ad credits value.
    • Future: Awarded but hasn’t reached start date.
    • Expired: Reached end date with unused ad credits.
    • Spent: Fully redeemed with no remaining ad credits.
    • Partially consumed (inactive): Partially used before the promotion ends.
Where can I find ad credits on my invoice?

Ad credits appear in the "Other Charges and Adjustments" section of your invoice. If you don’t see the expected ad credits, check the original promotional communication to verify:

  • If you completed the qualifying actions correctly.
  • If the actions were completed during the promotional period.
  • The date when Amazon will apply the ad credits.
How do I monitor my ad credit usage?

Monitor your ad credits by visiting the Summary to date section in the advertising console, displaying the Remaining amount, the portion of your promotion that is still available for future advertising costs. You won’t be notified when the ad credits are exhausted, and will be charged for all advertising that exceeds the ad credit amount.
