Amazon MGM Studios scores 16 Golden Globe nominations for Jury Duty, Air, Daisy Jones & the Six and more

Amazon MGM Studios has earned 16 Golden Globe nominations, marking the studio’s biggest year ever and the first year Amazon and MGM celebrate its Golden Globe nominees under the Amazon MGM Studios umbrella. The studio earned overall nominations for Best Motion Picture–Musical or Comedy with Air and American Fiction, Best Television Series–Musical or Comedy with Jury Duty, and Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television with Daisy Jones & the Six and the MGM Television–produced hit series Fargo. Earlier this year, Amazon MGM Studios celebrated 68 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, also marking its highest-ever tally.

Following its four Primetime Emmy Award nominations including Outstanding Comedy Series, Freevee’s Jury Duty once again became the first AVOD series ever nominated in a major category (Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy), also scoring a Best Supporting Actor, Television nomination for James Marsden.

“We set out to create a hero’s journey for one person on Jury Duty. We never imagined our story would resonate across continents, said the Jury Duty executive producers in a statement. “It’s an incredible honour to be nominated, thank you to the Golden Globes. And congratulations to James Marsden on his well-deserved nomination, we can’t imagine this show without him. We’ll be ready with our black-tie chair pants for the big celebration.”

In addition to its Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television nomination, Prime Video’s critically acclaimed and fan-favourite series Daisy Jones & the Six earned Best Performance nominations for Riley Keough and Sam Claflin. Additionally, the MGM Television–produced series Fargo, which was also nominated for Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television, earned Best Performance nominations for Jon Hamm and Juno Temple. Other series highlights include nods for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’s Rachel Brosnahan (Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy) and Dead Ringers’ Rachel Weisz (Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for Television).

Meanwhile in film, Air and American Fiction, in addition to their Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy nominations, also earned Best Performance nods for Matt Damon and Jeffrey Wright. Additionally, Rosamund Pike and Barry Keoghan earned nominations for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture and Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture–Drama, respectively, for their performances in Academy Award winner Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn, which will be available to stream worldwide on Prime Video on 22 December.

In addition to Amazon MGM Studios’ Golden Globe-nominated series and movies, customers on Prime Video can rent or buy a variety of other nominated titles directly, regardless of whether or not they have a Prime membership, including Oppenheimer, Barbie, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Killers of the Flower Moon, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Elemental, No Hard Feelings, Past Lives, The Holdovers, Beau Is Afraid, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, and Priscilla.

Plus, customers with Prime Video Channels subscriptions can stream Golden-Globe nominated series and movies including The Last of Us, Succession, Love & Death, Abbott Elementary, White House Plumbers, Sarah Silverman: Someone You Love, and Barry on Max; as well as Fellow Travelers, Yellowjackets, 1923, and The Curse on Paramount+; John Wick: Chapter 4 on Starz; and Suzume on Crunchyroll.

Starting in early 2024, Prime Video shows and movies will include limited advertisements. Prime Video ads will initially roll out in the U.S., U.K., Germany, and Canada, followed by France, Italy, Spain, Mexico and Australia later in the year. In the U.S., Prime Video ads will reach an estimated 115 million viewers on a monthly basis. Amazon aims to have meaningfully fewer ads than linear TV and other streaming TV providers while simultaneously offering advertisers reach, frequency and opportunities to tailor their messages. Prime members will have the choice to sign up for an ad-free option of Prime Video.

In early December, Amazon Ads announced a three-year agreement with IPG Mediabrands to help connect brands with relevant audiences through Prime Video ads. IPG Mediabrands is the first media holding company to partner with Amazon Ads on this new offering. Amazon Ads and IPG Mediabrands will collaborate to help brands add global Prime Video audiences to their media strategies, including first-look opportunities for new ad formats and content sponsorships in each region.
